The documented requirement was to organize product information and supporting assets in a searchable internal workspace. Finished products, reusable components and samples needed distinct records, while drawings, jig references, pricing and sample locations needed to remain connected to the items they described. Production work also needed a clear path from selected orders to shipping.
Custom Product Asset Management was built around those relationships. The product detail page acts as the main working hub, with separate component and sample libraries. The application also supports the business's production stages, recorded quantities and shipping controls, with role-based access for administrators, managers, viewers and delivery users.
A manager locates a product, reviews its current drawings and attached components, and checks its pricing or sample information. For a selected sales order, the manager assigns the required production stages and records work as batches progress. Finished quantities become available for a draft shipment. Staff prepare its documents and labels, then record dispatch as a separate action. Printing alone does not mark an order shipped.
Staff can work from connected product records and follow recorded production through shipment preparation in one application. File versions, component relationships and operational history remain available for later review.
- Find product information: Search product, component, file, supplier and location metadata, then open the relevant record.
- Maintain usable asset history: Organize drawings and documents by category, replace files with retained versions, and download selected categories or complete asset bundles.
- Reuse components: Attach a component to multiple products with quantities and notes, and see which products use it.
- Develop the sample catalog: Track sample prices, quantities, locations and color variants, then promote a sample into a linked product with copied pricing and images.
- Coordinate production: Select orders from a connected business system, choose required stages and record preparation, partial production and corrections without writing back to the source system.
- Prepare controlled shipments: Reserve finished quantities, prepare packing documents and labels, and explicitly record dispatch while retaining shipment history.
